Yakety Yak, GSACS, Ladybugs and Shindig

First of all, where did October go?? What a whirlwind month. It’s been full of lots of activity–campside, churchside, and family-and-friends side!

Campside:

Out of the 18 different camps that Ironwood facilitated this month, Theron was busy with hosting a Men’s Retreat from Big Bear, CA; a Women’s Retreat from Las Vegas, NV; a Couples’ Retreat from Victorville, CA; and a Family Camp from Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to hosting camps, Theron also flew across the country to share Ironwood’s ministry on the campus of Pensacola Christian College. He was able to spend two days talking to college students about what it looks like to serve at Ironwood over the summer as a counselor or on operational staff. If you’re a college student (or junior/senior in high school!) and are looking for a summer ministry, consider serving at Ironwood! Hands down, a summer at Ironwood will change your life.

Bethany got the special treat of attending two camps this month! The first was the GSACS convention. The Golden State Association of Christian Schools holds their educators’ convention at Ironwood. It was a wonderful few days full of learning, growing, laughing, and eating! Ironwood’s first banquet of the season was held for GSACS–the food and the service were incredible!

The second camp Bethany attended was Ironwood’s Ladies’ Retreat. The food, the fellowship, feasting on God’s Word, and the brief time apart from the busy was so refreshing and a wonderful bright spot in a full month.

Church-Side:

Our pastor has been preaching through the book of Romans, and it has been a rich and encouraging study. The young adult ministry had a pumpkin carving contest this month! And just this last weekend, Faith held our annual Shindig: a fall gathering that includes games, contests, grilled corn, crafts, a chili contest, a dessert contest, and an “unusual beverages” assortment! The evening rounded out with songs around the campfire and testimonies of God’s goodness.

Family-and-Friends Side:

The fellowship doesn’t stop! Every fall and spring, a dear friend hosts what’s called “Yakety Yak,” where she opens her home and all the ladies’ (and kids!) of Ironwood come over and spend about 4 hours just sipping coffee, snacking on themed out snacks, enjoying each others’ company and the beautiful mild weather that comes our way mid-October. It’s always a great time!

Bethany and baby boy are doing well! Her first appointment with her new doctor was successful, and the whole family is eagerly anticipating his arrival in mid-December! The time is flying as we wait for him to get here.

Rori and Madi wanted to hold baby boy’s hand during family devotions. All the feels. 🙂

Time is flying, and the kids are growing! Madi turned 5 this month! She wanted to have a ladybug birthday party, so we obliged. She was delighted with her costume from Aunt Em! She had to wear it as her costume for “Pygmy Plundering” this year.

Our family continues to be blessed with God’s provision. He sent us an unexpected $200 gift this month! As we work to continue to raise support financially, we also desire your support spiritually as you pray for us. As this month’s update wraps up, here are some praises and prayer requests that you can keep on your hearts.

Praises:

  • Financial provision
  • Family from LA able to visit this month!
  • Healthy baby boy
  • A new good doctor and hospital

Prayer Requests:

  • Continued health for everyone
  • Financial support for our family
  • Wisdom in parenting
  • Continued learning for Theron in his role on Program
  • Energy for Bethany as she continues to teach

Thanks for reading this month’s update! Lord willing, next time you hear from us, we’ll be just past Thanksgiving and have a whole month of blessings and grace-filled moments to praise the Lord for. See you then!

Love, the Bowman Bunch
